WICKMANN and POLYTRONICS sign Cooperation Agreement

on Resettable Circuit Protection Components

German-based WICKMANN Group and Taiwan-based Polytronics Technology Corp. have entered into a strategic cooperation in the circuit protection business.  The agreement focuses on the development, production and international marketing of polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) products for electronic circuit protection. Both companies have built good reputations in the electronics sector for very high quality products.  The strengths and resources of both companies will be used, particularly with regard to product development and international marketing, to enhance their reputations by continuing to improve and increase the supply of circuit protection components to the global market.

Special emphasis will be placed on PPTC products designed for the fast growing surface mount (SM) applications.  These products, highly miniaturised and very fast-acting, are cutting edge components in the “resettable circuit protection” of electronic appliances.

Polytronics will continue to focus on design, development and production while WICKMANN will be its marketing partner for global distribution.  This partnership, which also involves a shared ownership of Polytronics Technology Corp., is the start of a new long-term venture for both companies.

Polytronics was founded in 1998 and has since targeted the high-end PPTC products market. Due to strong industry demand, Polytronics has focused on development of small sized SM PPTCs and now supplies miniaturised—down to form factor 0805—SM fuse components for efficient printed circuit board placement. Polytronics products are currently being supplied to numerous worldwide OEMs in the electronics industry.

WICKMANN is a global supplier of circuit protection components.  For over 80 years, the German company has been known for a product portfolio of over-current, over-temperature and over-voltage protection components.  Main product lines include the TR5Ò/TE5Ò series and chip fuses for consumer electronics and telecommunications applications, as well as advanced product items for Bellcore and UL 1950 requirements. Subsidiaries of the WICKMANN-Group are located in China , Hong Kong , India , UK , the US and two east European countries.  WICKMANN also has representatives throughout the world providing services to customers in virtually all remaining markets.
