The term overvoltage is a condition in which voltage is higher than the level that the object is rated for. It occurs every day, everywhere in our daily life when there are lightning strikes, sudden change of voltage from the power lines or even switches on or off a device connecting with the power grid. As a result, these overvoltage surges could be harmful to those electric-powered equipments such as computer, fax machine, TV, surveillance system and other appliances through power lines, telecom networks or other ways. To protect those equipments from unrecoverable damages, we provide wide range of different over voltage protection devices to help customers manufacture more reliable products.
TVS
The Transient Voltage Suppressor diode (TVS Diode) is a protection diode designed to protect electronic circuits against transients and overvoltage threats such as EFT (electrically fast transients) and ESD (electro-static discharge). TVS Diodes are silicon avalanche devices and are widely used in home appliances, entertainment devices, telecom equipments and other devices because of their fast response time, excellent voltage clamping ability, lower capacitance and low leakage current characteristics. Polytronics TVS diodes are available for both uni-direction and bi-direction in different packaging sizes, wide working voltage range and wide power range.
TSS
Thyristor Surge Suppressor (TSS) devices protect telecommunication equipments such as modem, line cards, fax machines and other CPE. These devices are used to enable equipment to meet various regulatory requirements including GR 1089, ITU K.20, K.21 and K.45, IEC 60950, UL 60950 and TIA-968 (formerly known as FCC Part 68).
ESD
Design to protect voltage sensitive electronic components from ESD and other transients. Excellent clamping capability, low leakage, low capacitance and fast response time provide best in class protection on designs that are exposed to ESD.The combination of small size, low capacitance and high level of ESD protection makes them a flexible solution for applications such as HDMI, Display Port TM and MDDI interfaces. It is designed to replace multilayer varistors (MLV) in consumer equipment applications such as mobile phone, notebook, PAD, STB, LCD TV etc.
MOV
A varistor is an electronic component with an electrical resistance that varies with the applied voltage. At low voltage it has a high electrical resistance which decreases as the voltage is raised. Varistors are used as control or compensation elements in circuits either to provide optimal operating conditions or to protect against excessive transient voltages. When used as protection devices, they shunt the current created by the excessive voltage away from sensitive components when triggered.
GDT
Gas discharge tubes (GDT) are ceramic tube filler with noble gases and sealed by two opposite electrodes and can dissipate voltage transients by creating a glow discharge current through the tube to protect the circuit when high voltage surge occurs. GDTs have high insulation resistance, low capacitance and leakage characteristics which ensure minimal effect on normal operation of equipment.
